International Summer University

Important information

Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, the International Summer University 2020 at Hochschule Darmstadt has been cancelled. Thank you for your interest in studying with us, but the health of our participants, students and staff is of utmost importance to us. We look forward to having you with us for our future programmes.

The Hessen International Summer University of Hochschule Darmstadt is a four-week intensive short-term programme which runs in summer time (June 13 – July 10, 2021).

Academic Module: In Transition to a Pure Green Energy Economy

The prospects of an energy system and a whole economy relying solely on renewable energy are the focus of our summer school. The programme combines scientific knowledge taught in English with hands-on experiences during field trips to companies and public institutions. The International Summer University Darmstadt brings together technical and business perspectives and focuses especially on three challenges on the way towards a green energy economy:

  1. Transforming supply: Technology as driver for real competitive renewable energies.
  2. Transforming demand: Smart homes and smart cars for smart people.
  3. Transforming business: Strategic impacts for business models.

Students will have the opportunity to establish valuable contacts for their future careers. To complement the classroom work, excursions to near and distant sights, cultural learning and many leisure activities outside the classroom are included in the programme.

Participants will also have the chance to improve or start learning German in intensive German-as-a-Foreign-Language classes. Up to 9 credits can be awarded for these classes.

The Hessen International Summer University Darmstadt also aims to provide an insight into German life and culture. Therefore, the Hessen:ISU Darmstadt Team has a variety of activities prepared for all participants outside the classroom. The team will be available 24/7 during the summer university.
