Cultural programme

Aside from the study programme and language courses we offer a great variety of cultural and leisure activities outside the classroom. On the weekends we will show you the best of Darmstadt and the surrounding region to see more of Hessen and Germany and to get to know the people, the cultural heritage and the beautiful landscape of this federal state. During the week we will meet in the evenings to spend time together. In addition to the official opening and closing ceremonies we will organize a “Hessen Career Fair” just for you.

Cultural trips

Guided Tour Darmstadt
Discover the “Herrengarten” the biggest park of Darmstadt, where students enjoy spending leisure time in the summer. Come and visit the “crown of Darmstadt” - Mathildenhöhe - with its famous historic Jugendstil buildings. We will end the tour in the reopened State Museum of Hessen.

Trip to Wiesbaden
You will visit the capital of the federal State Hessen. The trip to Wiesbaden includes a guided tour in the historical palace and the penal hall of the Hessian State Parliament.

Trip to Marburg
Marburg is a university town with an 800-year-old history. The small city has a fascinating and special charm with its crooked streets, half-timbered houses and the castle on the hill. The trip to Marburg includes a guided tour through the old town and a guided tour through the castle’s casemate, remnants of the underground fortified positions.

Trip to Kassel
Once upon a time… During the ISU 2017 we will visit Kassel, a city closely linked to the Brothers Grimm. It is also well-known for the documenta, the world’s most famous exhibition of contemporary art. With the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kassel offers a great mixture between culture, art and historical monuments.

Trip to Rüdesheim
Rüdesheim am Rhein is a winemaking town in the Rhine Gorge and thereby part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Town belongs to the Frankfurt Rhine Main Region and is one of Germany's biggest tourist attractions. Making the town worth visiting is, not only the wine or even the Old Town itself, but also the picturesque Rheingau landscape together with the romantic Rhine.
