Aside from the study programme and language courses we offer a great variety of cultural and leisure activities outside the classroom. On the weekends we will show you the best of Darmstadt and the surrounding region to see more of Hessen and Germany and to get to know the people, the cultural heritage and the beautiful landscape of this federal state. During the week we will meet in the evenings to spend time together. In addition to the official opening and closing ceremonies we will organize a “Hessen Career Fair” just for you.
Welcome Reception and Welcome Dinner
Get a first impression of German hospitality and join us for the welcome reception and a typical German dinner at a local brewery.
Closing Ceremony and Farewell-Party
Way too soon the last day of Hessen:ISU Darmstadt will come and we will gather for a formal closing ceremony. The farewell-party afterwards will take place at the premises of the student association of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.

Guided Tour Darmstadt
Discover the “Herrengarten” the biggest park of Darmstadt, where students enjoy spending leisure time in the summer. Come and visit the “crown of Darmstadt” - Mathildenhöhe - with its famous historic Jugendstil buildings. We will end the tour in the reopened State Museum of Hessen.
Trip to Frankfurt
Visit the metropolis and largest city of the German federal State of Hesse. Frankfurt is a versatile city and has a lot to offer. You will get to see a modern skyline but also historical architecture. A fully reconstructed old town and Dom-Römer Quarter(Grand opening in Summer 2018) and countless other places of interest. Explore this city with the “Hop On-Hop Off” double-decker bus, sail on one of the river cruise liners or hop aboard the famous Apple Wine Express, a merry streetcar dating back to the 1950s.
Trip to Heidelberg
Discover one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Germany. The big castle, the Old Tow and the river Neckar surrounded by hills attract and fascinate millions of international visitors every year. The funicular railways will take you from the old town to the Königstuhl mountain. During the funicular journey you can experience Heidelberg and its attractive surroundings from a unique perspective.
Trip to Rüdesheim
Rüdesheim am Rhein is a winemaking town in the Rhine Gorge and thereby part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Town belongs to the Frankfurt Rhine Main Region and is one of Germany's biggest tourist attractions. Making the town worth visiting is, not only the wine or even the Old Town itself, but also the picturesque Rheingau landscape together with the romantic Rhine.
Climbing has become very popular in Germany. A climbing park consists of several courses in different heights and with different levels of difficulty. Challenge yourself, get up to the top and climb from tree to tree. Your safety is our priority. The equipment to keep you safe has been double-checked.
