Visa

Some students need a visa to enter Germany. Please read the following information and start your visa process as early as possible. It may take up to 6 weeks for the German embassy in your home country to issue a visa for you.

EU nationals
EU nationals do not require a visa to enter the Federal Republic of Germany.

Non-EU nationals
Non-EU nationals require a visa to enter and stay in Germany (for information on the exceptions for certain nationals please see below)  

In order to apply for a visa at the German embassy in your home country, application will require a “Letter of invitation” from Hochschule Darmstadt. We will send you a “Letter of invitation” as soon as you have applied and paid the registration fee. You can find more information on the application process here.

However, a visa is not required for semi-annual visits of up to 90 days for nationals of those countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement. Please check the website of the Federal Foreign Office if you need a visa or not.
